ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Georgia's Speaker of the House says South Georgians will lose "legislative clout" if they don't re-elect long time State Representative Gerald Greene.
Speaker David Ralston campaigned for Greene at Albany's airport Monday.
Greene has served in the state house since 1981.
He now represents District 151 which is Georgia's largest district, stretching over 9 counties including western Dougherty County.
"Southwest Georgia may have lost a little of it's influence or clout in state government," said Ralston. "Well let me tell you something, if you lost Gerald Greene, you are going to lose a whole lot of influence and clout."
Greene is a Republican.
He's opposed by former Terrell County NAACP leader Democrat Ezekiel Holley in the general election.
