ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Almost 500 voters cast ballots yesterday in the first ever Sunday voting in Dougherty County.
Only 5 counties in Georgia approved Sunday as another day to vote. Elections Supervisor Ginger Nickerson is satisfied with the turnout and hopes Sunday voting attracted some new voters.
"If it's something that is going to attract the non traditional voters, the voters that don't come out on Tuesday. We want all the options available to voters that they can have in order to attract everyone to come out. we dont want all the regular voters to come out and just change the day that they vote on," said Nickerson.
Early voting at the government center and Riverfront building ends this Friday. Election day is next Tuesday.
