Proposed pipeline could be a possible threat to family melon patch

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

With less than a week left until Halloween, families spent this beautiful fall Sunday picking out pumpkins at Mark's Melon Patch. This is a busy time for business.

Families went on hayrides and shot corn and all while live music was playing.

But owner Mark Daniel said his 33 years in the business could be in jeopardy if a proposed Sabal gas pipeline were to be built along his property where he was hoping to expand his business.

“It's something that's very near and dear to me. And the threat of a pipeline coming through here and messing that dream of mine up is heartbreaking to me.”

Daniel said the proposed gas pipeline would prevent him from expanding and accommodating his growing business.
