ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany area church helped voters get to the polls for Saturday early voting.
Bethel AME set up a call center inside the church Saturday for voters who needed a ride. Once the calls came in, members of the church went to the voters home to pick them up, drop them off at the Riverfront Resource Center on Pine Avenue and then took them back home.
Bethel AME members say it's important that everyone is able to cast their ballot. "It's important that each person gets out and vote and its also important to let everyone know that we care about the community and we are trying to reach out," said Bill Jones, Bethel AME member.
Early Voting was held from 9 Saturday morning to 4 in the afternoon. The polls will also be available Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Riverfront Resource Center.
