VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Hundreds of South Georgians are expected to lace up their walking shoes Saturday for heart health.
The annual Lowndes County Heart Walk will take place Saturday morning at McKey Park in Valdosta. The goal is to raise $100,000 for the American heart Association to help continue the fight against heart disease and strokes.
The walk will also be honoring a Cook County teen who recently underwent heart surgery after two holes were found in his heart. "Heart disease is our nation's number one killer," pointed out Terri Lupo, the 2014 Heart walk Chairwoman. "So, the more money that can be raised in order to promote research and education of heart disease, the better off our citizens of our community will be."
The walk starts at 8 a.m. You can sign up at the event Saturday morning or by clicking here.
