Store shooting suspect still at large, nearby schools release students

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - One person is in custody and police are looking for another involved in an afternoon shooting at a gas station.

It happened at the Quick Buys store at 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Glenwood Drive and Pinetree Boulevard in Thomasville.

Police said a man was filling up his car with gas when another driver pulled up in a pickup truck and got into an argument with him.

According to authorities, the man filling up pulled out a gun, fired two shots, and then ran away with another man who was in the car, leaving it still parked at the pump.

Thomasville Police Major Eric Hampton said, "One male did fire several shots and, at that time, fled the scene.  No one was hurt.  No one was hit by any of the rounds."

All six Thomas County schools and Thomasville Christian School were placed on lockdown because of the incident.

Both schools had officials supervise as they released students one-by-one to their parents.

Police later caught one of the men who was in the car at the time, but did not say if that person was the shooter.
