Sigma Nu fraternity chapter at VSU reinstated

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The Sigma Nu fraternity chapter at Valdosta State University is no longer under suspension as of Thursday afternoon, just in time for homecoming.

The fraternity was suspended after several members displayed sexually derogatory signs at the VSU football game on September 20th. Over the past two weeks, the fraternity had been working to complete community service and some training, which were part of sanctions handed down by both the fraternity's national headquarters and VSU.

"It isn't more heavy handed or less heavy handed than anything that's been done across the board. We strive to be equitable and fair with the process," explained Dr. Kimberly Luse, VSU President's Chief of Staff.

Dr. Luse said she was proud of the fraternity for embracing the sanctions and for working quickly to comply with them.
