LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - The overall ISO fire rating for Lee County has improved from a 6 rating to a 5, officials said today.
This will hopefully have the effect of holding the line on homeowner's insurance rates in the county.
County Manager Ron Rabun said that this rating does not take into account the fact that some paramedics are being cross-trained as firefighters, or that the county is developing a strong volunteer firefighter reserve.
These facts mat serve to bolster the ISO rating in the future.
The rating of 5 will take effect in January, and homeowners are urged to make sure that their insurance agents are aware of the improved rating.
