DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - Some Dougherty County schools will be renovated to add some extra security.
Lincoln Magnet Elementary, Merry Acres Middle, Radium Springs Elementary and Westtown Elementary were last renovated in 1999 or 2000.
Right now visitors can go into those schools, without having to walk through the front office.
Officials want to make sure visitors go into the office first so they can be screened.
"We've met with some contractors and took some bids to build some storefront walls that will stop people from going into the building and it will direct them into the office," said Bob Fowler, DCSS Facilities Director.
The project is funded with SPLOST three money.
School officials plan to work on several other schools next year that will take a little more work.
