OCILLA, GA (WALB) - The 54th annual Sweet Potato Festival in Irwin County is this Saturday, October 25th.
Organizers say they have tons of new activities this year including a civil war re-enactment, arts and crafts antique car show and a parade.
Over 100 vendors are scheduled to take part in the festival. The festival will be held at the old Irwin County Elementary School. Money raised from the arts and crafts booth will go towards Irwin ARC.
This is Irwin County biggest and only fundraiser of the year.
"It's a great community and great people and we want everybody to come and share this experience with us," said Raye Young.
"I want to tell you about it, it's time to rise and shine. It's tater time in Ocilla and Irwin County," said Melba Paulk Veazey.
A play to called Southern Fields "A Folklore Comedy by Waylon Day will be performed in the Irwin County High School Auditorium.
The sweet potato festival starts bright and early Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. For more information call 229-468-9114.
