THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The City of Thomasville's Electric Department is being recognized for keeping their men safe while they work throughout the community.
The department was awarded the 2014 Safety Award of Excellence by the Electric Cities of Georgia.
It's an award given out every year to recognize one out of 49 cities that works to ensure reliable power.
Electric Operations Manager Brent Alderman said, “We make sure our linemen go home at the end of the day safe and unharmed. Things that we've been taught in the industry to perform our jobs safely.”
Safety equipment such as rubber gloves and hand lines, as weekly safety meetings, made Thomasville's department a model for other cities.
