Valdosta woman arrested on multiple drug charges

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - After complaints of suspicious activity on McLeod Drive, Valdosta, investigators searched the home Tuesday afternoon. 

They found marijuana and prescription drugs, and arrested the woman who lives there.  Jennifer Ortiz had the pot, along with Carisoprodol, Alprazolam and Hydrocodone.

Carisoprodol is a Schedule IV narcotic prescribed as a muscle relaxer, Alprazolam is also a Schedule IV narcotic used to treat anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and anxiety and Hydrocodone is a Schedule III narcotic used as a pain reliever.

Ortiz, 29, was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail and will appear in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court for an arraignment hearing this afternoon where a bond will be considered.

According to Sheriff Prine a large number of investigations begin and are ultimately solved with the assistance of the public, as was a case we reported earlier this week in Valdosta.
