Two arrested for Americus burglary

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Americus Police made a quick arrest in a home burglary Wednesday afternoon. Darryl Dixon II and Raymond McCray Jr. were arrested and charged with breaking into a house on Jefferson Street.

A handgun, a TV, 400 dollars worth of change, and a satellite box were stolen from the home. Someone at Food Lion alerted police to men cashing in that change only a few hours later.

"In this particular case, it was a very quick arrest with citizen involvement and we really appreciate all the assistance that was given to assist in this arrest," said Major Herman Lamar of the Americus Police Department.

The handgun and money were returned to the homeowner. It is unknown if McCray and Dixon are responsible for any other burglaries in the area.
