Wiregrass recognized for Adult Education

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Wiregrass Georgia Technical College's Adult Education Program was one of four technical college programs recognized at the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Adult Education Fall Conference 2014 in Atlanta. 

Wiregrass South Regional Certified Literate Community Program (CLCP), a community volunteer group focused on increasing literacy rates, received the Advocacy Award for Tutor Hours. The CLCP works to promote, support and enhance community literacy efforts. 

The five counties represented by this award include Berrien, Atkinson, Lanier, Brooks, and Echols counties. 

 The Certified Literate Community Program works with communities, businesses, education, and government agencies to fight illiteracy, it work to establish community resources, and address scarce adult education funding needed to recruit adult students.
