Georgia Peanut Festival celebrates 51 years

SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - People from all over Southwest Georgia were in Sylvester for the 51st Georgia Peanut Festival.

The day is filled with activities for families including lots of food, arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment, and games for the kids.

Organizers say this is one of their biggest crowds yet. Some of the entertainment including recording artist, and country singer Buddy Jewell.

"We had an awesome draw, with that draw, I was talking to some of the food vendors and they were running out of food, we had so many people here. It was just an exciting time this year at the 51st Georgia Peanut Festival," says Eric Hatcher, Entertainment Chairperson.

"Folks here in Georgia are just gracious and kind, We had a great time and beautiful weather, and even better folks down here, so we have had a blast," says recording artist Buddy Jewell.

Jewell was the first winner on the USA Network talent show Nashville Star.
