Phoned in bomb threat forced Albany Walmart evacuation

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Albany Police say a man called the East Albany Walmart about 4:25 Friday afternoon, saying "Me and my friend put 3 pipe bombs in the store."

Walmart employees then evacuated the business at 262 Cordele Road of all the customers and non management employees. Police and Walmart management searched the store inside and out, and found a suspicious black bag in the sporting goods section.  The Albany Police K-9 "Mona" was called to the store and searched the suspicious bag.  It was determined to belong to the store, and there were no explosive devices inside.

The K-9 searched the rest of the store, and found no threats.

Police say customers and employees were then allowed to return inside the store.

Investigators say they have no suspects to the transmitting a false public alarm so far.
