ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Sam's Club is recalling some baby wipes after learning they may be contaminated.
The recall comes after a Sam's Club supplier, Nutek Disposables, Inc., announced that some Simply Right branded baby wipes offered for sale at Sam's Clubs beginning June 30th of this year may be contaminated with B. cepacia bacteria.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, this bacteria "poses little medical risk to healthy people. However, people who have certain health problems like weakened immune systems or chronic lung diseases, particularly cystic fibrosis may be more susceptible to infections with B. cepacia."
Sam's Club voluntarily directed all clubs to remove the product from shelves and website and placed an electronic block at our registers so the item couldn't be purchased.
Any consumer who purchased affected product should discontinue further use and promptly return any remaining product to Sam's Club for a full refund.
