ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County voters will be able to cast ballots on a Sunday.
In a 3 to 2 vote Wednesday, the Board of Elections decided to offer voting on Sunday, October 26th at the Riverfront Resource Center on Pine Avenue.
Saturday voting is already scheduled around the state that weekend.
“Really we'll have a weekend of voting in Albany and Dougherty County. So that Saturday we'll be there from 9 until 4 in the afternoon and we'll close up and open up again on that Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. so that will be a weekend of voting," said Ginger Nickerson.
Lowdnes, DeKalb, Fulton and Chatham Counties had already decided to allow Sunday voting on the 26th.
Since early voting started Monday, October 13th almost 800 people in Dougherty County have cast ballots.
That's better than the May primaries and July runoffs.
