ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Theatre Albany is benefiting from an effort to honor a young man killed in a crash.
25-year-old Mack Burgess died Tuesday afternoon just north of Atlanta.
His father, Albany native Banks Burgess, is part of a folk duo scheduled to perform at the theatre Friday.
Instead of asking for refunds, many ticket holders are donating their ticket money in honor of Mack Burgess.
The co-owner of Stewbo's, one of the sponsors of the concert, says the outpouring has been moving.
"Its a wonderful gesture and all these people have called us. We sent out an email saying why the show had to be canceled and we would destroy everyone's check or they could pick them up and the phone just started ringing," says David Campbell.
The concert has not been rescheduled. The Lee Family was also a sponsor of the concert.
