Two arrested in cemetery burglaries

COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) -

Two people are arrested after being caught stealing from several South Georgia cemeteries.

Mitchell Pruitt and Amy Blackburn were arrested and charged in Cook County after more than 30 victims say metal was stolen from their family members' graves.

The two are also charged with the same theft in two Colquitt County cemeteries.

Vases and plaques were stolen from Westview Cemetery and Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

"The two essentially have admitted their part and also indicated that those are the two cemeteries in colquitt county that they came from," said Investigator Shawn Bostic.

If you have noticed anything stolen from a grave site you can call the Colquitt County Sheriff's Office.

Stealing from the dead is a felony in Georgia.
