ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The stock market took a big plunge Wednesday
After dropping as much as 460 points, the Dow Jones Industrial average was down 173 points at the closing bell.
When the market drops, some people become scared and start selling off stocks.
A financial advisor at Wells Fargo says the stock market is way overdue for a 10 percent correction, and this may not end up being as much of a pullback as we have seen in previous years.
"Corrections are not fun," said branch manager Vic Sullivan. "They can be spooky for a lot of investors, but they can actually be very healthy for the market, in that often they can keep the market from getting over valued [and] too complacent."
He suggests talking to a financial advisor to evaluate the risks and long-term potential of stocks and decide what investments are best for you.
