THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The City of Thomasville's Planning Department is being recognized by a national association for their new Creative District plan.
They won Outstanding Planning Process for a Small Community from American Planning Association.
The department hosted an intensive three day workshop where people from the community could voice changes they want to see downtown.
City Planner Brian Hermann says they wouldn't have the award without the help of organizations and community members. "We had such tremendous input from the community at large. It really summarizes what a great event it was and how many people engaged themselves in the city," he said.
Hermann says the plans include new additions like an amphitheater and walking trail that will enhance what Thomasville already has to offer.
