VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Subway at 602 North Ashley Street in Valdosta was robbed Monday night.

A black man with his face covered entered the restaurant around 9:30 and pulled out a handgun. Two employees were inside at the time, 23 year-old Kenneth Ellison and 38 year-old Akeno Thompson.

"According to the two cashiers that were workin'," said Valdosta Police Department Aaron Kirk, "an African American male came in with his face covered, brandished a handgun and demanded money. [The cashiers] gave him an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and he left on foot."

A Lowndes County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit was called in to try to track the suspects but was unsuccessful. The restaurant owner is working to provide VPD with a copy of the surveillance video from the restaurant, but the owner would not release a copy of the video to WALB Tuesday morning.
