THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Thomasville Police are searching for suspects involved in a pawn shop burglary after the owner reported 15 handguns stolen.

Police responded to a call from Shepard's Bait and Tackle on West Jackson Street early Saturday morning, after the store's alarm went off.

The owner said the suspects entered through the back window air conditioning unit and got away with guns and almost $3,000 worth of jewelry.

Police said their biggest concern is to get the weapons off the streets.

Thomasville Police Major Eric Hampton said, “We encourage our citizens to contact us if they see, or if they hear anything.  If they see anyone on the streets with guns, or trying to sell guns, or just passing guns around.  We need that information.  We'd like to get those guns off the streets.”

If you have any information on this burglary, you are asked to call the Thomasville CrimeSTOPPERS at (229) 227-3305.
