ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Women in South Georgia had a chance to address Georgia's Governor about various issues.
It was a packed room this morning at the Southwest Georgia Council on Aging in Albany.
Governor Nathan Deal spoke to mostly women about issues they face and how he can help.
Governor Deal says his mother was a strong woman as well as his wife and daughters and they've helped give him a better understanding.
"I have great interest in making sure we do address the issues that maybe are particularly important to women," said Governor Deal. "And I believe we have. I've told them that one of the things we're proud of is that Georgia is recognized as the best state in the country for women owned businesses."
"I appreciated the update on the business environment that we have here in Georgia and the initiatives he's taken with education," said supporter Sandra Smith.
Friday's event was organized by the Republican party.
