VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The High Demand Career Initiative created by Governor Deal is trying to get input on the logistics industry in South Georgia.
Officials with the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia met with business leaders about the logistics industry Thursday. The logistics industry is a major part of the economy in Valdosta and in Georgia as a whole.
The goal of the initiative is for Georgia colleges and universities to learn how they can help create the workforce that Georgia businesses need. "Out of the 13 meetings that we'll have around the state this year, 10 of those are strategic sector meetings where we're focusing on a growing important industry within Georgia. Certainly, logistics is one of those," said Ben Hames, GA Workforce Deputy Director.
The final meeting will be held in Athens later this month.
