ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County School Board members are considering moving a program to help balance out student enrollment.
The Middle School Gifted Program would transfer from Merry Acres Middle School to Robert Cross Middle School.
School Superintendent Dr. David Mosely says it will help with overcrowding at Merry Acres.
Dr. Mosely said he hasn't received any negative feedback concerning the move.
"Parents that I've talked with are very excited about the move," said Mosely. "So it's going to be a winner for everybody. We'll average out the enrollment. Nobody gets hurt in the deal."
School officials are currently making plans for a smooth transition for the 150 students who could be impacted.
The board will vote on the move next week.
