Lowndes officers make cocaine arrest

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine says his deputies arrested James Edward Howard for Possession of cocaine Wednesday.

He said that investigators from the Special Operations Division of the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at 827 East Brookwood Place, Valdosta as part of an ongoing investigation.

They found approximately 3.3 grams of cocaine, valued slightly over $400, scales and bags used for weighing and packaging narcotics, and a handgun that had been previously reported stolen in a 2009 burglary.

The tenant, James Edward Howard was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail. Howard will appear in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court for an arraignment hearing this afternoon where a bond will be considered.

Howard, 39, is charged with: Possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, Manufacturing crack cocaine, Possession of tools for the commission of a crime, Theft by receiving stolen property, and Criminal attempt to distribute cocaine.
