ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Technical College leaders meet with area agriculture companies to make sure the college is graduating the kind of workers those businesses need.
The meeting, that also included leaders from the Department of Economic Development, the University System, and the Technical College System, is part of Governor Nathan Deal's high demand career initiative to meet the needs of local businesses.
The goal is to give students the skills to be successful and to help businesses find well-trained and well-educated employees from their communities.
"This program is about hearing from businesses and ensuring that those investments and those resources are geared toward in demand jobs meeting those needs of businesses," said Ben Hames with the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
Hames says the initiative is a win-win for students and businesses and is building a better workforce for Georgia.
