ALBANY, GA (WALB) - City leaders got a new look at a beautification project for an Albany underpass Tuesday morning.
Officials say the city has been working with the Georgia-Florida Railway to improve the bridge and underpass on Broad Avenue for years.
A video was shown to City commission to give an idea of what the area will look like after improvements are made.
The project might include updated walkways, landscaping and paint replacement. "It's structurally sound. They test that every year," said Bruce Maples, City Director of Engineering. "It's just something that the residents in the area and the city of Albany wants to do to get a gateway into the city."
New hand rails and lights could also be installed in the project. If approved for a right of entry, the $260,000 project could begin next year.
