Camilla officer involved altercation

Russell Florence Russell Florence
CAMILLA, GA (WALB) -  Russell Florence is out of jail tonight and telling us the G-B-I isn't telling the whole story.

Florence admits he got into a fight, but he says the other man cut him with a knife and pulled a gun and didn't get charged because he's a police officer.

Florence was picking up his son at the Walker Homes complex Wednesday when he got upset with off-duty Camilla police officer Travis Green.

They got into a fight and Florence says Green pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed him in the abdomen.

He says Green took his keys and belongings from his car and threw them on top of a neighbor's home then got a gun from his car and began chasing Florence down Inman Lane.

" I'm the one being charged with terroristic acts and threats and assault, but he's the one who really did the assault. He's the one who really had the weapon. He's the one that chased me. I engaged afterwards, I was in defense to leave by being chased by officer Green in this act," said Florence.

One neighbor told me she say Green throw Florence's items on her roof.

Florence says Green has harassed him in the past and he's complained to Camilla city leaders about it.

GBI Agent Steve Turner told me they don't have evidence to back up Florence's story, and they did speak to witnesses who say Florence started the altercation and that's why he's the only one who was arrested.
