ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The first annual cancer stomp fundraiser kicks off in Dawson tomorrow morning.
Last year's stomp in Albany was so successful the Cancer Coalition of South Georgia decided to expand it to other areas.
The coalition says Terrell County has one of the highest rates of obesity in the country. The event will also bring awareness to that issue.
There will be games and outdoor activities at The Terrell County Recreation Fields starting at 9 a-m tomorrow.
Casey Perkins from the Cancer Coalition of South Georgia says, "We're gonna have our one mile walk in the morning to honor cancer survivors and then we are gonna follow that up with a few hours of fun activities for kids and families."
Upcoming Cancer Stomp walk and Carnival fundraising events:
· October 18th Albany at Phoebe on Meredyth Drive behind the veranda 9-1.
· November 8th in Cordele at the State Park 9-12.
· November 22nd in Tifton at YMCA soccer fields on Carpenter Road 9-1.
All the events start off at 9 am with a walk and the Carnivals begin at 10. There will be games for the kids and booths set up. There will be a $5.00
