Community remembers worker killed in workplace accident

REBECCA, GA (WALB) -

OSHA investigators are now looking into a deadly workplace accident in Turner County.

61-year old Isabel ‘Rubin' Gomez was killed Thursday morning at WBT Peanut Company in Rebecca when the hydraulic system of a front end loader he was working on fell on him.

Workers at the Rebecca Food Mart say Gomez visited their store with his brother everyday for 15-minutes. They describe him as a wonderful guy.

“He came in here every day at 10 o'clock just to see me and my other co-worker. He came in and talked to us. He was real, real nice and when I found out what happened to him, it just broke my heart,” said

Operations at the plant were back to normal Friday though we were told OSHA investigators were there today.
