DCSS faces lawsuit over bullying claim

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty County School system is being sued for millions of dollars over the bullying of a Westover High School student.

Manswell Peterson is seeking six million from the School Board and two million from Westover basketball coach Dallis Smith.

Peterson says his son was bullied by nine teammates at a basketball camp in July in Tallahassee.

Westover Coach Smith was suspended over the incident, one player was dismissed, and six players were suspended.

Peterson tells WALB News 10 he offered to settle with the school board for $200,000 but they countered with a $1,000 offer.

He filed the suit this afternoon.
