MITCHELL CO., GA (WALB) - A report by the CDC says heroin deaths are on the rise in much of the country but the epidemic doesn't seem to have reached our area.
The report says the increasing supply of heroin is contributing to more deaths and overdoses.
The Mitchell County Sheriff's Office says their area is prone to other types of drugs.
"Meth, powder and crack cocaine, yes. No reports of any heroin use to our knowledge," said Investigator Ray.
The CDC study says heroin is cheap costing less than main prescription drugs on the streets.
