ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany city officials are working with contractors to find a less disruptive way to rebuild portions of Stuart Avenue after business owners and school officials expressed concerns.
D.J. Two's Carwash and Quick Lube owners are concerned whether their 40 year old family business would survive if Stuart Avenue is blocked to through traffic for the rest of the year.
The city plans to start work at Archwood Drive Monday that would leave access to businesses only through side streets. D.J.'s co-owner Jeff Wiggins said "We have met with the city and they are talking about some other options. We pray that they consider those other options."
City engineers met again today with contractors, trying to find a way to not block all through traffic on Stuart Avenue, but still rebuild the road which has failed because of heavy traffic.
