ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Police say an active search continues for a person of interest in a murder after they failed to find their man at this motel this evening.

Police knocked on doors Wednesday.

Twenty-seven year old  Ricky Kegler's death remains unsolved nearly 48-hours after someone sprayed his East Albany home with bullets and shot him multiple times.

Police were looking for 22 year-old Mike Hill at the Motel 6 on East Oglethorpe Boulevard, but, Hill is still on the loose.

Police wearing bulletproof vests knocked on doors at the Motel 6 with handguns and rifles drawn.  They were looking for a person of interest in the murder of Ricky Kegler.  His family learned about the search and showed up to see what would happen.

"I'm just in desperate need for this guy to get caught for what he did to my brother," said

Sheqela Butler.

Police are hoping that they will continue to get tips.

"It's a part of the community effort to bring this person of interest in so he can be questioned"

Sheqela Butler, Kegler's sister, believes Mike Hill is more than a person of interest

"We've been hearing different stories, as far as, my brother actually called this guy name and said,

Mike shot me,

The family says some of Kegler's friends have been threatening to take justice into their own hands.  They urge people not to do that.  They want people to let the police to do their job and to tell police any information that will help the investigation.

"I just want closure with everything so we can rest at night and be able to move forward with it and put our brother to rest, " said Butler.

Hill is also a suspect in multiple car break-ins in which guns and electronics were stolen.

If you know where police might find him, you are encouraged to call 436-TIPS
