Fleeing suspect tasered at mall

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany man ran into the Albany Mall after a wreck, and police used a taser on him after he fought with them.

Police say Contavis Jackson crashed in the 2700 block of Dawson Road just before noon.

No one was hurt in the crash, but Jackson left his car and ran into the Mall.

When police tracked him down in Dillard's, he tried to escape again.

"As he was being brought out of the Mall he decided to resist at that point in time. And had to be taken to the ground and dry stunned with a taser to be brought into compliance," said Sgt. Jon Segroves of APD.

Jackson was treated at the hospital then taken to the Dougherty County jail.

Police say he had a suspended driver's license.

Now he'll face other charges.
