ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Christmas is just around the corner, and because Thanksgiving falls a little later this year Toys for Tots is kicking off a little early.

Toys for Tots official boxes will be at area businesses that have joined the effort in making sure every child has a Christmas this year.

There are upcoming events such as the annual golf tournament, a bowling tournament, and "Stuff the Truck" where community members can get involved.

Gunnery Sergeant Johnny Ruby at the Marine Corp Logistics Base in Albany is this years coordinator for Toys for Tots in our area and says its all about the kids.

"I've been in for 20 years and this is probably one of the most amazing feelings to watch a child get a toy," said Sgt. Ruby.

There are at least 300 donation boxes going out in the community. Sergeant Ruby says there are still boxes available for businesses that would like to have one.
