QUITMAN, GA (WALB) - The Rayonier Advanced Materials Foundation presented a $1,000 check recently to Fire Chief Tom Fields of the Brooks County Fire Department to benefit the county's emergency management system.
The presentation was an effort to thank area firefighters for their outstanding efforts in containing a fire on July 31 at Rayonier Advanced Materials' Quitman fiber facility.
“As a result of the fast response from the Brooks County Fire Department and volunteer firefighters, there was minimal damage to our facility and we were able to resume production within a couple of weeks,” said Gabe Sirmans, scaler, Rayonier Advanced Materials Southeast Wood Products, Quitman fiber facility.
”This contribution expresses our sincere gratitude to the department and volunteer firefighters who responded within minutes and prevented the fire from developing and causing major damage. We salute their dedication,” said Charley Hood, president of the Rayonier Advanced Materials Foundation.
