ABAC wants students to know about tobacco ban

TIFTON, GA (WALB) - All campuses in the University System of Georgia must be tobacco free on Wednesday.

Officials at ABAC want students to know that it includes smokeless tobacco as well as e-Cigarettes. Signs will be posted around campus to remind folks to leave tobacco products at home.

Administrators hope to educate students about tobacco's harmful effects.

"Let students know the dangers of whether it's smokeless tobacco or cigarettes or that sort of thing, the repercussions of smoking on campus. We hope the students join in as well as the faculty, staff and any visitors To the campus," said Interim VP of External Affairs Mike Chason

No punishments have been outlined for students who are caught using tobacco products on campus.
