ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Public Works crews brought out pumps in low lying areas in Putney to deal with standing water after heavy rains Monday.
Officials said the pumps were being placed in strategic areas to help deal with the rain water.
No roads were blocked due to the rain as of 2 p.m. Monday.
Drivers were urged to use caution on roads with standing water.
5-inches of rain have fallen in Putney since 7 a.m. Monday.
Public works officials set up three pumps in low lying areas in Putney,The pump on Nichols is to try to keep water from flowing into backyards. Crews placed the pumps in areas that have recurring problems during heavy rain.
“When we get an initial surge of water, my recollection, we got about three and a half inches of water. We're just trying to stay ahead of it in case we get anymore extra rain,” said Jason Hillhouse, Drainage Manager.
