ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany church continues its mission of reaching out to the community.
The "Center of Refuge" hosted their 9th annual "T.E.A.M." outreach event at Riverfront Park. People got free health screenings from Albany Tech nurses and learned more about STD prevention. The ASU's basketball team passed out food and clothing to families in need.
"Well for generations to come, we want them to understand that it's very important to make sure that they are healthy and to make sure that they are aware of things that is going on in this city," said Ontario Paige, Center of Refuge Minister.
"Anytime we can come out and help or assist any organization or be an asset to our community, we definitely want to be involved," said Chris Cameron, ASU Men's Basketball Coach.
The Dougherty County Sheriff's Office and Albany firefighters also provided safety tips.
