ALBANY, GA (WALB) - City Commissioner, Jon Howard, wants to make sure people are informed about the controversial proposed natural gas pipeline.
At a town hall meeting on Saturday, county officials and former commissioner, Gloria Gaines, talked about potential environmental, public safety and health impacts the pipeline could have. On Monday representatives with Sabal Trail, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Natural Resources and the Governor's Office will have a public meeting. County commissioners are encouraging the public to attend.
"We're concerned about all of those potential harmful effects of the project," said John Hayes, County Commissioner. "Our response to it, the community's response to it is just very, very important to our having success in defeating it or having it rerouted."
Monday's pipeline meeting will start at 10:00 am in room 100 of the Government Center.
