Wasp sting sends hunter to hospital

SUMTER CO., GA (WALB) - A lot of things have the potential to ruin a hunting trip, and in the case of a Florida man, it was something quite small.

33-year-old Tyler Maggs was flown to a Thomasville hospital after he jumped out of a tree stand in Sumter County Friday, after officials said he was stung by a wasp.

Sumter County Sheriff Pete Smith said he estimated Maggs fell about 20 feet to the ground.

It happened near Thomas Mill Road south of Plains.

Maggs was taken to Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville. His condition was not immediately available.
