National Dog Week organizers recommend adopting a shelter dog

LEE CO., GA (WALB) -   This is National Dog Week, and South Georgia humane societies say it's a great time to adopt a pet.

The Lee County Animal Shelter has 26 dogs of all sizes ready to go to a good home.

They've all had their shots and are micro-chipped and spayed or neutered.

Adoption fees range from $85 to $122.

Officials at the shelter say a dog would be a great addition to your family.

Lee County Animal Shelter Supervisor Jackie Grigg said "Not only a family but somebody by themselves, they are good company.  I think they are good therapy.  And every child should have a dog."

Or you can check out your community's humane society.

They probably have plenty of good dogs too.
