District Attorney donates seized funds to school

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Dougherty District Attorney donated property seized from a convicted thief to Albany Middle School.

District Attorney Greg Edwards and his investigators delivered several thousand dollars worth of speakers and the receivers that power them to Albany Middle School today.

The equipment was seized from the former manager of Albany's movie theater.

Seth Donnelly pleaded guilty in July to stealing close to $60,000 from the theater.

School officials will put the speakers in their SWAG Cafe for students to perform with.

"They'll just be reciting," said teacher Sarah Mack-Holloway. "Just rehearsing what they are going over in the classroom. It's pretty much engages in their student learning, because a lot of the students learn from each other."

The District Attorney says he is glad this seized property will benefit students.

Donelly was sentenced to a year in prison and ordered to repay more than $54,000 to the theater owners.
