Statewide community housing conference held in Valdosta

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Community leaders from across the state were in Valdosta Wednesday to learn about some of the city's successful initiatives.

?Around 100 leaders from 10 cities learned about some of Valdosta's housing and code enforcement initiatives. The goal is to encourage other cities to implement some of the successful policies in their cities.

"One of the beauties of this program is, cities are learning from each other," explained Bill Thornton, Deputy Executive Director of the Georgia Municipal Association. "They like to know what works, what hasn't worked, what are some of the challenges, how they've overcome them."

A similar conference was held at the end of February in Douglasville.
