MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Moultrie's YMCA delivers healthy lunches to six after school elementary programs.
The lunches feed over 250 kids five days a week. Volunteers pack hundreds of lunch every day to provide the kids with a meal.
"It's usually a cold cut sandwich, we do one vegetable and one fruit daily and sometimes we add string cheese and yogurt," said Savannah Mothershed, food director.
"We are aware that a lot of kids that go home at the end of the day may not have a good nutritious meal again until they get back to school the next day," said Greg Koop, CEO.
The "Y' applied for a grant though the YMCA USA and Walmart Foundation to help bring this program to the kids.
