ALBANY, GA (WALB) - In July, board members approved a plan to provide tablets to all 16,000 students and laptops for teachers.
So far teachers at seven schools have received the laptops and software that coincides with the student's tablets. Every classroom in the school system is also getting a new smartboard.
"All of this is happening this fall and it's a lot of work. It's a lot of excitement too for the school system to see, we're all waiting for the day we flip the switch and have a new system run faster and more efficiently," said DCSS Spokesperson R.D. Harter.
Teachers will receive training on the new software and technology during a development day on October 9th.
Students are expected to have the tablets by January. Half the schools will receive the laptops and tablets this year and the rest next year.
